Our Board members volunteer their time to guide Abode Services' direction and ensure we work to fulfill our mission as effectively as possible. They represent various sectors of our community, including government, business, and non-profits, and offer a wide breadth of expertise to help us develop our programs and vision.

John Barton - President
Architect and Director of Stanford University's Architectural Design Program
Mr. Barton has served one term on the Palo Alto City Council and two terms on the Palo Alto Unified School District Board of Trustees. He is Past Chair of the Board of the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the Housing Trust Silicon Valley. He is a co-founder of the Community Working Group and a long time advocate for affordable housing solutions.
Hirendra Hindocha - Vice President
CEO, Digital Nirvana
Mr. Hindocha is an entrepreneur and has served as CEO of Digital Nirvana, Inc. for the past eight years. He holds a Masters in Computer and Information Science. Along with his strong technology background, Mr. Hindocha brings a variety of skills in strategy, planning, administration and management.
Tejas Saraiya - Vice President
Business Development Lead, Google
Mr. Saraiya leads enterprise technology partnerships for Android and Chrome at Google. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. He has worked for 15 years in his field, specializing in business development, product management, marketing, and software engineering.
Harvey Schloss - Vice President
Retired Finance and Operating Executive
Mr. Schloss is a past-president of Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, Jewish Family and Children's Services of greater San Francisco, and Rhoda Goldman Plaza - an assisted living facility in San Francisco. He has been Interim Executive Director for Rebuilding Together Peninsula, Palo Alto Art Center Foundation, and JW House - a hospitality house on the Kaiser campus in Santa Clara. He has served on the boards of Environmental Volunteers, the Jewish Public Affairs Committee, and A Foundation Building Strength for Nemaline Myopathy. He currently serves on the the Child Care Partnership Council in San Mateo County and the board of directors for Kidango, and is a member of the Strong Start Coalition in Santa Clara County.
Maribel Castaneda-Sargent - Secretary
AVP/Market Support Consultant, Wells Fargo
Ms. Castaneda-Sargent has been working for Wells Fargo since 1997, and currently supports 14 different locations in the East Bay. She is a graduate of Cal State East Bay, and has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources. She has been involved in community service through Wells Fargo by volunteering at the Bay Area Rescue Mission, Berkeley Food and Housing Project, MedShare and Junior Achievement.
Teresa Powell - Treasurer
Executive Vice President, HOA & Deposit Services, Heritage Bank of Commerce
Ms. Powell brings extensive local and nonprofit banking expertise to our Board. Before joining Heritage, she was Executive Vice President of Community Banking for Focus Business Bank, where she oversaw the creation and growth of their HOA and nonprofit business lines. In addition to our Board, she is involved in community groups throughout the area, including West San Jose Kiwanis and Santa Clara Monterey Bay Council Boy Scouts of America.
Sales Strategy & Operations Manager, Google
Mr. Angle has 15 years of experience in business, nonprofit, and organizational strategy with expertise in technology, digital marketing and social media, driving top-line growth and operational excellence for multi-billion dollar businesses. He holds a Master's Degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and has served with nonprofits in Boston, Washington D.C., and San Jose to promote child education and end homelessness.
Theresa Ballard Dias
Principal, Struthers Dias Architects, Inc.
Ms. Dias brings with her a background in affordable multi-family housing development in the East Bay. She is a founding principal of an Oakland-based architecture firm focused on serving local non-profit developers. A certified Green Building Professional, Ms. Ballard Dias is also dedicated to implementing sustainable building principles as a standard for future development.
Marketing & Branding Strategist
Mr. Bhasin has been a marketing professional for over 15 years and is currently involved with social impact organizations to help build and improve their "value propositions." He holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston and enjoys supporting various other organizations in the Bay Area with his marketing, communications and branding experience.
Ms. Danner has supported the nonprofit sector in Santa Clara County full-time for more than 40 years. She has served as an Executive Director, Board member, consultant, advisor, planner, professional and volunteer fundraiser and donor to nonprofits of all sizes. In the process, she has developed a broad connection with many aspects of the South Bay community that she can leverage to assist Abode Services.
Principal, Ford Associates
With more than 40 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Mr. Ford is a management consultant for Bay Area non-profits of all sizes, from start-ups to organizations with budgets over $10 million, focusing on board development, strategic planning, organizational assessment and fund development planning.
Ms. Price served on both the Palo Alto School Board and the Palo Alto City Council. She has a combination of 30 years of experience as a local and regional community and transportation planner, and non-profit administrator and fundraiser for the San Jose Museum of Art. She also was the Executive Director of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Santa Clara Valley. Ms. Price recently was Chair and member of the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Board; she was appointed to the Blue Ribbon Commission on Improving Custody Operations and the Jail Diversion Committee. She has been on numerous Boards and Commissions related to the arts, childcare, social services, and permanent supportive housing. She is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto. She received a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from UC Berkeley and a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland.
Real Estate Agent and Office General Manager, Realty World One Alliance
Mr. Smith has been a licensed Realtor since 1999. He has served on numerous boards, including the Alameda County Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee, the Union Sanitary District, and many others. He believes in getting involved in his community and serving his clients with any and all of their real estate needs.
Business Information Technology Consultant
Ms. Wahab has a background in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She has been at the intersection of technology, community building, and advocacy for many years, and has long been a leader in the Bay Area community. She also serves on the boards of other nonprofit groups, such as Tri-City Volunteers and the Afghan Coalition. Ms. Wahab has been named by the San Francisco Business Times as one of 2017's Most Influential Women in Business in the Bay Area. She also received the 2016 Unity Award from California State Senator Robert Wieckowski. Ms. Wahab holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from San Jose State University and a Master's of Business Administration from California State University, East Bay.
Professor of Linguistics and Philosophy Emeritus, Stanford University
Mr. Wasow is the Academic Secretary of Stanford University, where he was a professor of linguistics and philosophy for 43 years. He has been active on issues related to affordable housing on the Peninsula since the mid-1990s, when he was appointed to a City of Palo Alto task force on homelessness. He has served on the board of the Community Working Group since its founding, and also serves on the board of Peninsula Healthcare Connection.
Chief of Human Resources, Washington Hospital Healthcare System
A graduate of San Jose State University, Mr. Welch brings a broad base of Human Resources experience to the Board of Directors. He has extensive experience in all facets of human resources and specializes in healthcare management.
Dr. Yin has been operating her own chiropractic clinic in Fremont since 1999. She is a graduate of Mission San Jose High School and UCLA, and has been actively involved in community service for over 10 years. She has extensive experience in active involvement at nonprofit groups, such as Citizens for Better Community (CBC), Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation, and Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments (SAVE).
