For the tenth year in a row, Abode Services has earned a 4-star rating, the best rating possible, from Charity Navigator for its sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

The 4-star rating from the country’s preeminent nonprofit evaluator shows that Abode Services continues to belong in the top echelon of nonprofits in the country. In fact, only 1% of the thousands of nonprofits evaluated by Charity Navigator have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star ratings.

This rating recognizes Abode Services’ consistent good governance and commitment to its mission to end homelessness. By maximizing the impact of each dollar it receives, Abode Services works to develop and expand programs that make a difference in the lives of Alameda and Santa Clara county residents experiencing homelessness.

Charity Navigator President and CEO Ken Berger said Abode Services’ top rating is yet another example of why the community can trust the nonprofit will work diligently to improve the lives of those it serves.

“Abode Services supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly,” Berger said.

To determine its ratings, Charity Navigator uses a data-driven approach that reviews how a nonprofit utilizes its resources in accomplishing its mission. The analysis also considers how transparent a nonprofit is to donors and other stakeholders, and looks at what measures are in place to ensure ethical practices. A 4-star rating is only awarded to the nonprofits that demonstrate the best use of their funding for the greatest impact on programs.

“We pride ourselves on delivering the best services we can to the people in our community who are working to find a permanent home. This rating speaks to how well we are doing our job,” Abode Services Executive Director Louis Chicoine said. “We are able to accomplish our work because the people involved with us – participants, donors, volunteers, funders and partners - trust that we are doing the best job possible to fulfill our mission to end homelessness.”
