Abode Services Receives Challenge Match Grant from the Sobrato Family Foundation

July 16th, 2015

This grant is designed to help Abode Services maximize our fundraising efforts during the current fiscal year (July 2015 – June 2016).

During this period, the following donations will be eligible to be matched by the Foundation:

  • gifts from new donors (100% match)
  • donors who have not given to Abode within the last 12 months, but make a gift this year (100% match)
  • gifts from donors who increase the amount of their last gift (increased amount is matched - e.g., if the last gift was $100 and the donor gives $150, the match amount is $50).

The grant will total up to $133,250 over two years.

Funding from the Sobrato Family Foundation will help support programs at Abode Services that improve the lives of more than 4,400 people each year, including 1,200 children. These programs are helping vulnerable people in Alameda and Santa Clara counties escape the crisis of homelessness and work toward self-sufficiency.

Abode Services has also been awarded Charity Navigator’s top four-star rating for accountability and transparency for ten consecutive years.

“We know that people donate to us because they want to help bring an end to homelessness,” said Abode Services Executive Director Louis Chicoine. “This challenge match grant from the Sobrato Family Foundation lets supporters increase their impact, and make even more of a difference in the lives of the families and individuals we serve. We are thrilled that the Sobrato Family Foundation’s generosity is making this grant possible.”
