Rapid Rehousing (RRH)

Since January 2016, Abode has provided housing locator services for people who use vouchers from the San Mateo County Housing Authority to help pay their rent. Abode helps residents who have endured the lengthy voucher process and struggle to find stable housing. Abode engages and partners with area landlords, providing them incentives and resources to help voucher holders — especially those who are elderly or persons with disabilities — find affordable housing options. County leaders selected Abode in part because of our strong history of providing RRH services with documented successful outcomes.

Jon and Jennifer Rodriguez: We had space to spare

As Jon and Jennifer Rodriguez saw skyrocketing rents price friends out of the Bay Area, the couple wondered how they could help. They found a solution in their East Palo Alto house, deciding to build a mother-in-law unit they could rent to someone needing a home.

"We felt we had space to spare," Jennifer said. "So we said, 'Let's share it.'"
